Biography
Jack McLean : b. 1962 : Glasgow, Scotland
After graduating from Glasgow School of Art with a BA in 1987,
Jack came to Japan where he is currently based. He primarily
works with ink on paper or canvas creating meticulously detailed
depictions of subterfuge, crime, fraud and illusion. His past
projects have included `The Mircosculpture Involuntary Acquisitions
Project` where the artist placed sculptures at the Moma NYC,
Tate London, MOCA L.A. and Tokyo’s Hara Museum. Other projects
have included burying Gladwrap cast human limbs in
public parks around Tokyo. Jack has recently shown at the Waiheke
Community and Corner Gallery, NZ, A.R.T Gallery, Tokyo, and
has an upcoming group show: 'The Beautiful Game' at the Roebling
Hall Gallery, NYC 2006.
Carly Fischer : b. 1978; Melbourne, Australia
Carly received her MA in sculpture from the Royal Melbourne Institute
of Technology (RMIT University) She works largely with cardboard,
paper and fabric. Her installations involve a laborious process
that mimics an efficiency-driven workplace environment. Her past
show titled SKWOT (2005) saw her reconstruct piles of `corporate
junk` that were left behind in an abandoned building. Carly has
shown at the Helen Gory Gallery and AREA contemporary INC Melbourne,
Australia.
